On Friday 28th September, Susy Atkins from The Sunday Telegraph and BBC 1’s Saturday Kitchen will be leading An Evening of Fabulous Fizz at The Kendleshire.
An award winning wine expert, during two hour-long sessions Susy will give guests the chance to sample five different sparkling varieties. For fans of fizz it promises to be an event that is certainly not to be missed!
In advance of the two sessions, The Kendleshire caught up with Susy to find out why she thinks fizz is so fabulous and to give a taste of what’s to come – read on to find out more.
Why do you think that fizz has become so popular recently?
The sparkling wine scene worldwide is really exciting at the moment – the new surge in popularity of sparklers is mostly down to the sheer variety now available, from prosecco to premium English fizz, and cava to Champagne. There’s something for every occasion.
Fizz is refreshing and relatively light in alcohol, which many people are looking for. Then there’s that glorious, celebratory ‘pop’ of the cork too!
What type of fizz is your favourite?
I absolutely love a fine sparkler – best of a very good vintage Champagne (one from the grapes of just one excellent year), but I also have a soft spot for the exciting new bubblies from southern English wineries.
What can people expect to learn at An Evening of Fabulous Fizz?
I’ll be explaining the difference between the various styles out there, giving you loads of tips on how to serve fizz, getting value for money, and pairing it with food, and of course there will be lots of lovely bubbly to taste as well. It’s going to be a fun evening!
